Discover the Power of Parks

Welcome to the 2018 Discover the Power of Parks program!
Our interpreters from the Student Conservation Association are based out of Lafayette Campground and have planned a whole summer of informative and fun programs for you to take advantage of while visiting Franconia Notch State Park.

Discover the Power of Parks Interpretive Ranger Program
Their programs highlight local history, ecology and traditional lore through both the spoken word and activities. Information-packed hikes are more than just guided walks, they’re imaginative explorations of the wildlife habits and habitats of amphibians, black bears, fish and many more species. The program is made possible through our partnership with New Hampshire State Parks with generous funding from Public Service of New Hampshire.

Meet your interpretive rangers for summer 2018

Kate Seader - My name is Kate Seader. I was born and raised in Bloomington Indiana. I graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg FL with a Bachelors of Science in Biology in the spring of 2017. I’m interested in Search and Rescue, wetland ecology, and permaculture. I joined the SCA NH Corps because the program seemed like the perfect opportunity to gain experience in environmental interpretation and education while continuing to give back to the community.

Haley Lesmerises - My name is Haley and I am super excited to be one of the Interpretive Rangers at Franconia Notch State Park this summer! I'm a local from Milford, NH, and I went to school at UNH where I got my bachelor's degree in Wildlife & Conservation Biology. I can't wait to get out into the park and have the opportunity to talk to park goers about the constellations, native wildlife, invasive species and more! Come see me at the Hiker cabin for information on the park or come to one of my programs to learn about all of the wild things Franconia State park has to offer.
