FRANCONIA, N.H. — Cannon Mountain is excited to kick off the 2025–26 winter season earlier than anticipated, with Opening Day now set for Saturday, November 22. Originally planned for Friday, November 28, this year’s launch lands on the early side of Cannon’s historical opening dates thanks to favorable snowmaking conditions, around-the-clock work from the Mountain Operations team, and more than a foot of natural snowfall over the past week.

“This early start is a credit to our team,” said Jace Wirth, General Manager of Cannon Mountain & Franconia Notch State Park. “They pushed hard when temperatures lined up and Mother Nature gave us a boost at just the right moment. It sets us up to offer our guests a great early-season experience.”

Opening Day operations begin at 9:00 a.m., with top-to-bottom skiing and riding served by both the Peabody Express Quad and Cannonball Quad chairlifts. Cannon expects to open at least five trails, offering intermediate terrain only to start the season.

Preseason lift ticket rates will be in effect from November 22 through November 26. Adults ski for $64 when purchasing in advance. Guests are encouraged to buy online ahead of time for the best possible rates.

Guests are also invited to a celebratory unveiling of a new mural inside Peabody Lodge, created by acclaimed local artist Zach Johnsen. The installation highlights Cannon’s unique energy, heritage, and community spirit. The unveiling is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.

“I’m sure our first chair regulars are already planning their very early morning arrival,” Wirth said. “We can’t wait for the mountain to buzz once again with friends and families meeting up on snow for their first turns of the season. There’s nothing like it.”

Cannon Mountain looks forward to welcoming skiers, riders, and the community back to kick off another great winter in Franconia Notch.
