TruStrength Skimo Race

TruStrength Uphill Cup series originated in Western Maine, and we are excited to announce a new race venue at Cannon! Cannon offers a challenging course that does not follow our typical uphill route. Points will be kept from month to month, prizes will be given, and many fun memories will be made.

Individual Full Course Format: 

• Racers should expect approximately 4k of vert and skiing on variable terrain. If conditions allow, racers should be able to ski ungroomed terrain up to a double black diamond difficulty. 

• Racers must wear a helmet at all times and be able to securely attach skis to their body during bootpack sections. 

• Racers must follow designated uphill, downhill, bootpack sections, and transition areas. 

  • Designated Uphill Route: Lower Ravine => Red Ball => Middle Hard Cut-Thru => Middle Hardscrabble => Upper Hardscrabble => Taft Slalom

  • Designated Downhill Route: Upper Ravine => Skylight => Short Fuse => Lower Hardscrabble => Blue Ball => Turnpike => Lower Ravine 

The Designated Uphill Route will be CLOSED to non-race race traffic during the event. Please DO NOT attempt this uphill route outside of the event. Your uphill pass will be pulled. 

Three Hour Laps Format:

• Racers should expect approximately 1k of vert for each lap and are required to follow a designated uphill route. 

• Helmets are required for downhill skiing 

• Laps must be started within the 3-hour time limit to count. 

• This format accommodates ANY level of downhill ski ability

  • Designated Uphill Route: will follow Cannon's regular uphill route and can use any route down. Lower Ravine => Middle Ravine => Upper Ravine => Lowest/first entrance onto Taft Salom. 

Once you have decided your format, we further categorize you by the gear you are using:

• Lightweight “skimo” gear = Under 80mm underfoot ski width 

• Traditional “heavy metal” gear = Over 80mm underfoot ski width, this includes telemark gear.

• Other = Splitboards, etc.
